Weekend Painting

I've told you about wanting/needing to do a bedroom makeover. Well the weekend has come that I'll be painting and re-arranging in preparation for Florida visiting. Here are the blinds I've purchased.

And I've decided on are a light and medium green. The light green will be on 3 walls of the bedroom and the medium will be on the window wall and bathroom.

Fun and Busy times this weekend!

Nickels

This week had been crazy at work and I haven't even posted about my Lenten project. As usual I'm giving up sweets including cokes but I have also decided to limit my cuss words. I'm paying a nickel for everyone one I say and it's not going that great. Soon St. Mary Cathedral will be able to buy some new stained glass windows or a heating unit!

Whistle Please

Did anyone else out there think it was awesome when Kate Winslet was giving her acceptance speech and she had her dad whistle so she could find him in the crowd?

I loved it!!!

Dad whistle or something!

Guns and Spotlights

Last night was eventful! Just as I was getting into bed at around 11:00pm I see that there is a missed call from 2 seconds earlier. Miss Peddler called and I dialed to see if she needed something. YES SHE DID - someone tried to break into her house and she called me! I jump in the Lady Lex and haul ass down the street. Half way there I realize I have a gun and am not afraid to protect my friend....no I didn't turn around I need to get her asap. As I'm pulling into the driveway she runs out and jumps in the car. We call the police and start making the block to see if we can find anyone suspicious (we know we should have left this to the police but we are country girls and that's what we do). We see a creepy guy walking with a long stick and a coat hanger and by this time it's 11:30pm. The police officer pulls up next to us and we tell him that we saw a guy but could he please come look around the house just in case...he does, we don't find anything, and the cop knows of the guy we described. He leave to go track down the creeper and question him. We leave to sleep at my house were there is a pistol and an alarm system!

Look Alike

There is the a guy that works in my building and he's super sweet. He has been telling me for years that I look like a famous actress from the 20's. One day when I was out of the office I return to find a montage of pictures of her and a note explaining he had finally figured it out. Some might say this is weird but I found it endearing.

This morning was really the first time in over a year of know about Marion Davies that I saw it in the mirror...any thoughts?

Read Carefully

Today my intern asked if I'd be interested in getting a free sonogram. He handed me the invitation and it clearly says "ask any pregnant woman you know to join us." NO - I'm not pregnant; there is no chance I could be (thank you for the moral compass). I was amused and slightly offend all at the same time. I know my spanx aren't quite keeping it all in after my lunch of gumbo but really?!? What a self-esteem booster!

Lesson learned: it's never a good idea to ask a lady if she'd like a free sonogram even if she is pregnant.

Clean

Yes my house is finally fixed and clean! I had the plumber in on Friday and have working hot water in the kitchen, and new garbage disposal installed, and master bath toilet that flushes without water spilling out of the tank. Mom and I did a super clean on Sunday after the V-day wedding masterpiece including ceiling fan dusting, a pre-soak of the kitchen floor and then mopping, sweeping of garage and patio, and closet shifting. And yesterday was the best; a full steam cleaning of all the carpet in the house and yes he got ride of the nasty stain that was right at the front door.

Now all I need is to start on the room redo next weekend. I've got a paint color and some new blinds but still need stuff like nightstands...suggestions.

Room Redo

So I'm in the middle of planning for a master bedroom redo. I purchased my first house about 3 years ago and have been decorating one room at a time since then. The only rooms I have left are the master bedroom and the kitchen and since the kitchen is going to be the most expensive I'm saving it for last.

I have a king size bed with this quilt on it and really that's about it. The dresser is old and a little on the 70's lacquer so it lives inside the closet. I know there will be paint in some shade of green and bamboo or rattan blinds but I'm up for suggestions.

Paper Overload

So I finally cleaned up my house last night...truthfully just picked up all my crap from the last 3 weeks...I mean there was no vacuuming, dusting or actual cleaning involved in what I did. After it was all said and done I have realized the biggest problem is an overload of paper that accumulates on the dining room table, in the living room, in the entry way - well every single spot in the house. I bet there was at least an hour wasted in going through mail, junk mail, receipts, and papers. I have a large stack of my beloved magazines that I haven't had time to sit down and read...maybe after this weekend of wedding madness.

My house would be clean but I seem to have a paper overload problem!

iPhone Apps

So PA asked about the iPhone and some of my favorite applications!

Pandora - The music group that most have on their computer is available for the phone...love it for just hanging around the house while cleaning or reading magazines.

Around Me - A great tool if you're driving or in a new place...you can get the closest gas station, coffee shop or hospital.

Shazam - Maybe my favorite - you just hit the button and in 10 seconds it will tell you the song that's playing on the radio, elevator or movie theatre.

Take Me to my Car - Helpful when going out at night...you get out of your car and your phone will remember so when you bar hopped all night you just hit the find button and it will give you walking directions back to the random parking garage where you left the car.

Solitaire - because I don't get enough of this game at work...yes I'm a dork but that's why you love me...right?

Florida's coming to town

I'm going to need some serious moral support for the next month. Mr. Florida is coming to visit me and I'm already freaking out. We talked tonight and decided on a weekend and then the plane ticket was booked. What the hell am I doing?

Yeah and the moral compass is working and he's cool with it...he better be or he can go back to Florida.

I'm taking suggestions on things for us to do while he's here. I mean we have to do something other than drink and make-out all weekend...right?

Friday's List

So as I sit here making my weekend to do list it seems a little odd that buying a new garbage disposal; cleaning the fridge; and getting groceries are all on here. Lately it seems that I've gotten groceries, cooked, and then tossed out or put things down the disposal...feels like my money's going down the sink.

Fun times.

Cherry Limeade

i've been craving one all day! Sonic has happy hour from 2-4 daily...maybe there could be one in my future soon...along with some cheddar peppers and ranch. That's the order.

Things I'd Rather be Doing

So here is a small list of things I'd rather be doing right now instead of being at work:

1. Getting a pedicure - My feet hurt and my toenails are in desperate need of a professional paint job. Plus it's just fun and one of few girlie things that I do. I did get these for Christmas and they help but there's nothing like a pedi.

2. Playing golf with the Golfer - I got these awesome new golf shoes for Christmas and haven't had a chance to try them out yet. It's also sunny and 70 and I need some vitamin D.

3. Shopping with anyone who wants to go...my Spring Must-Have list is getting longer by the minute.

Brown Eyed Girl

Since you are the one that has questions I have a post just for you!

1. Since the beginning of when I can remember I've been a procrastinator. Waiting until the last minute to do just about everything is something I'm really good at too. And Allie, well, it's the nickname my mama gave me.

2. Of my 3 jobs I love doing the wedding flowers the most and to be more specific, delivery is my favorite part. Handing the bride the bouquet she will carry down the aisle is kind of awesome.

3. The 3 of my Spring must-haves:

a super cute cardigan from J. Crew

awesome straw hat without a wide brim

perfect spring shoes from Nine West

4. My favorite recipe to actually make (and eat!):
Cream Cheese Chicken Enchiladas
1 yellow onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups cooked chicken
1 cup roasted red peppers
6 oz cream cheese, cubed
2 Tbl butter
8-10 flour tortillas
1 lg can enchilada sauce
8 oz grated monterrey jack cheese
salt, to taste
Optional: Add 2 chopped jalapenos for more spice.

Directions
Thinly slice onion saute in butter approximately 15 minutes.
Add garlic.
Remove from heat and toss with the chicken and peppers.
Gently stir in cubes of cream cheese.
Season with salt.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Pour a little bit of enchilada sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
Spoon about a 1/3 cup of the chicken filling into the tortillas.
Sprinkle a little cheese over the filling (do not use all the cheese) and
roll up.
Place enchiladas into baking dish with the seam side down.
Fill entire dish (usually about 8-10 enchiladas)
Cover with the remaining enchilada sauce and grated cheese.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. You can also refrigerate enchiladas: cook
15 minutes covered, 15 minutes uncovered.

It might be over

I haven't posted in a week, that's 7 days people! I know I only have a few readers but I can't believe that no one had a single question for me. I might just end the blog right here if I don't get any love. Dilly Dally my constant commenter and I love her for that but I have over 2000 minutes in my roll over plan and I could just talk to her everyday for that. Comments please - yes I have been reduced to begging. Please let me know who's reading....
