Whistle Please

Did anyone else out there think it was awesome when Kate Winslet was giving her acceptance speech and she had her dad whistle so she could find him in the crowd?

I loved it!!!

Dad whistle or something!

Guns and Spotlights

Last night was eventful! Just as I was getting into bed at around 11:00pm I see that there is a missed call from 2 seconds earlier. Miss Peddler called and I dialed to see if she needed something. YES SHE DID - someone tried to break into her house and she called me! I jump in the Lady Lex and haul ass down the street. Half way there I realize I have a gun and am not afraid to protect my friend....no I didn't turn around I need to get her asap. As I'm pulling into the driveway she runs out and jumps in the car. We call the police and start making the block to see if we can find anyone suspicious (we know we should have left this to the police but we are country girls and that's what we do). We see a creepy guy walking with a long stick and a coat hanger and by this time it's 11:30pm. The police officer pulls up next to us and we tell him that we saw a guy but could he please come look around the house just in case...he does, we don't find anything, and the cop knows of the guy we described. He leave to go track down the creeper and question him. We leave to sleep at my house were there is a pistol and an alarm system!

Look Alike

There is the a guy that works in my building and he's super sweet. He has been telling me for years that I look like a famous actress from the 20's. One day when I was out of the office I return to find a montage of pictures of her and a note explaining he had finally figured it out. Some might say this is weird but I found it endearing.

This morning was really the first time in over a year of know about Marion Davies that I saw it in the mirror...any thoughts?

Read Carefully

Today my intern asked if I'd be interested in getting a free sonogram. He handed me the invitation and it clearly says "ask any pregnant woman you know to join us." NO - I'm not pregnant; there is no chance I could be (thank you for the moral compass). I was amused and slightly offend all at the same time. I know my spanx aren't quite keeping it all in after my lunch of gumbo but really?!? What a self-esteem booster!

Lesson learned: it's never a good idea to ask a lady if she'd like a free sonogram even if she is pregnant.

Clean

Yes my house is finally fixed and clean! I had the plumber in on Friday and have working hot water in the kitchen, and new garbage disposal installed, and master bath toilet that flushes without water spilling out of the tank. Mom and I did a super clean on Sunday after the V-day wedding masterpiece including ceiling fan dusting, a pre-soak of the kitchen floor and then mopping, sweeping of garage and patio, and closet shifting. And yesterday was the best; a full steam cleaning of all the carpet in the house and yes he got ride of the nasty stain that was right at the front door.

Now all I need is to start on the room redo next weekend. I've got a paint color and some new blinds but still need stuff like nightstands...suggestions.

Room Redo

So I'm in the middle of planning for a master bedroom redo. I purchased my first house about 3 years ago and have been decorating one room at a time since then. The only rooms I have left are the master bedroom and the kitchen and since the kitchen is going to be the most expensive I'm saving it for last.

I have a king size bed with this quilt on it and really that's about it. The dresser is old and a little on the 70's lacquer so it lives inside the closet. I know there will be paint in some shade of green and bamboo or rattan blinds but I'm up for suggestions.

Paper Overload

So I finally cleaned up my house last night...truthfully just picked up all my crap from the last 3 weeks...I mean there was no vacuuming, dusting or actual cleaning involved in what I did. After it was all said and done I have realized the biggest problem is an overload of paper that accumulates on the dining room table, in the living room, in the entry way - well every single spot in the house. I bet there was at least an hour wasted in going through mail, junk mail, receipts, and papers. I have a large stack of my beloved magazines that I haven't had time to sit down and read...maybe after this weekend of wedding madness.

My house would be clean but I seem to have a paper overload problem!
